As real estate professional’s it’s our job to be versed in all things home. One of every client’s concern’s other than finding the perfect house? How to decorate it! We all know Home Goods is the go to for day to day- and who doesn’t know where to find Pottery Barn? Whether your looking to personalize a space, or a project piece, the Vintage and Salvage shop’s below are some best kept secrets in the DMV.
For those of you looking for raw materials, vintage pieces, or maybe just to get inspired-this is your heaven. Community Forklift is an amazing company who takes construction “trash” and give it back to the world as treasure. Everything from hardware, doors, mantel’s, wood, and so on- this place is a must visit. There is an overwhelming amount of materials here but perfect for adding character to any home. Creative vision required, but so worth it.
The Luckett Store is a well known Northern VA go to for vintage finds in one convieant place. Open 7 days a week with over 36 regular vendor’s, this is without a doubt a great go to for custom pieces. What I like about Luckett Store is there is organized chaos but I can see similar type products to mix and match. Luckett Store is best known for it’s open air market in the spring, but has events all year long.
My favorite MD Vintage shop! Gypsy Faire is only open the first weekend of every month, but so worth the trek to Southern MD. Located about 40 minutes from Alexandria, this special warehouse has literal “Fairy’s” who scout out worth vintage pieces to bring to their market. What I love about this store is they rework a lot of vintage pieces before selling, making it less work for us! Who doesn’t love that?
Self described as “furniture with soul”-Nadeau is great furniture and decor shop, without the mainstream big box feel. Their goal is to make great finds available to the masses. There won’t be as much hunting at Nadeau, but every pieces has a vintage unique feel. Did I mention affordable? I love their art, and accessory pieces, and everything is super budget friendly. It is also conveniently located in Alexandria- so when I can’t make a long drive outside the DMV- this is a must stop.
