Halloween is one of my husbands favorite holidays, but we struggle with how to celebrate – the truth is we are over dressing up and the bar scene, and we are pre-kids so no costume parade to attend. This year we decided to throw a halloween party! I love a theme party anyway, and it’s a fun excuse to get friends together, have a few drinks, and make some great food. If you are planning on throwing your own halloween party I’ve shared some of my favorite ideas for this year.
Decor
Although orange and black are THE halloween colors, don’t feel like you have to stick to this color scheme. I like to incorporate my everyday style with touches of halloween throughout. Here are some of my favorite party decorations that say halloween, but don’t scream it!
1. Hanging Skeleton | 2. Dinner Plates | 3. Drink Tray | 4. Skeleton Shot Tray| 5. Wine Cooler | 6. Candy Bowl | 7. Wine Glasses | 8. Spider Pillow | 9. Name Card Holders| 10. Beverage Napkins
Cocktails
When deciding what type of drinks to serve consider what your guests are into. Are they craft beer fanatics? Do they love wine? Lately, our friends have been loving specialty cocktails. Create a cocktail for your guests or dress up your bar cart and let them create a potion of their own! Check out these fall cocktail recipes made with Tito’s vodka, yuuumm! – Fall Cocktail Recipes
Music
Choosing music for your party can be hard. You want your guests to be entertained and you also want to try to stick with your theme – at least for the first hour. Halloween songs definitely put everyone in the spirit, but you don’t want to over due it. Try incorporating your musical taste, whether it be top 40 or country and halloween classics.
If you’re really stuck, Spotify has done the leg work for you and created halloween playlists that will entertain even your biggest critics! At the end of the day, a good cocktail, good music and good company is all you need to make it a good time! Happy halloween!
