It’s week two of the new year! How is everyone feeling about their new year’s resolutions? I’ve been reading, researching, and listening to podcasts on how to stay on track with my new year’s resolutions. A tip I’ve heard time and time again is to start small and then build on your goal as you continue to find success through mini milestones. So say you don’t workout, (like me, a large part of the year), I’ve committed to working out three times a week to start. Eventually, I would like to work out five days a week, but we all have to start somewhere!
Since many of us want to improve our fitness in 2018, I wanted to share some great workout studios in the area 🙂
Cycling

A few of my favorite workouts include cycling class. I LOVE me some cycling with bumpin’ music in the dark! SoulCycle has become one of our go to’s. We often go to the Georgetown studio off of Wisconsin Ave, but there’s four DC studios to choose from. What you can expect from this intense cycling class is an amazing 45 min workout where you’ll be drenched after. But it’s also great for your soul, hence the name. SoulCycle says it’s a “powerful mind-body experience,” and we would have to agree!
For a great alternative in the burbs, Zengo Cycle is another fav of mine. Located in Mosaic District, you can get your workout in then grab groceries at Mom’s Organic after 🙂
HIIT

For another sweaty workout try one that focuses on HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training). A popular option is Orange Theory Fitness, a one hour workout that tracks your heart rate which sets the pace of your workout. The workouts include endurance and strength training using treadmills, row machines, and resistance circuits. They switch up the structure of every class so things never get dull!
Pilates

Pilates is a great way to work on your strength and flexibility. We checked out Pilates ProWorks in Old Town and attended their PilatesPro class. It was very challenging, but a really great workout nonetheless! Each attendee worked on their individual pilates machine or FitFormer, pictured above. We did variations of leg, ab, and arm exercises. I was definitely feeling it the next day! 🙂
If you’re not sure what types of workouts you would like best, ClassPass is a great option to try different workouts in the area. It gives you access to hundreds of studios and classes for you to experiment with. You never know you might see me there 🙂
