As an avid lover of Sunday brunch I thought it would be fun to share my favorite brunch spots in Alexandria, Fairfax & DC.
Old Town Alexandria
The Warehouse in Old Town was one of the first brunch restaurants I went to before brunch was even cool 🙂 I love it’s New Orleans flare and the amazing selection of fresh seafood! My favorite appetizer is their she crab soup – it’s creamy, not too salty, and they are very generous with the crab!
The Warehouse adds an elegant touch to their dining experience by serving each entrée with your choice of strawberries and cream or strawberries and champagne! Click here to check out their full menu.
If you’re one that prefers a buffet style brunch then Blackwall Hitch is the place for you! With a fresh seafood station, omelette station and $1 mimosas, this brunch has it all! Not to mention the amazing waterfront location and live music! And once the temperatures start warming up, they’ll open their patio bar and outdoor seating area too!
Fairfax
I really enjoy restaurants that take an innovative approach to food and I think First Watch is one of those places. They offer handcrafted beverages that are probably my favorite items on the menu. The “morning meditation” is great if you like beets in your drink 🙂 it also has orange juice, turmeric, ginger and agave (drink pictured above on the far right). Delish! With a whole section on their menu called “The Healthier Side,” they offer your favorite brunch items made with organic and wholesome ingredients.
Expect it to be packed Saturdays and Sundays so use their “wait list” option on the Yelp app to check wait times and get yourself on the wait list remotely.
Another favorite is Ted’s Bulletin in Mosaic District. Whether you are craving eggs or something heartier, breakfast is served all day and lunch starts at 11 am. A great option to get a little of both is their steak and eggs, served with a 10 oz NY strip, eggs, and hash browns. For dessert, you might try their famous homemade pop tarts, or Ted’s Tarts, as they call them. They come in an assortment of flavors from strawberry to blueberry cheesecake, so good! If you’re dining with a large group I suggest calling ahead. They will put you on their guest list so that there’s little to no wait time when you arrive.
Washington DC
I love french food so it’s no surprise that a french restaurant would be a top pick for me 🙂 Le Diplomate is an award winning restaurant in DC’s Logan Circle. Their brunch has french inspired cuisine like steak frites, quiche florentine and duck sarladaise (duck, eggs and potatoes, I didn’t know what this was at first either :)). I’m hungry just thinking about it! Don’t forget to make a reservation though or you may be waiting 1-2 hours! Bon appétit!
Let us know if you end up trying these restaurants and what your favorite meal was 🙂
