With Memorial day weekend behind us and June just days away, the A&E Team has started making summer plans! There is so much to fit in in just three short months so we’ve created a fun summer bucket list. Between work and play we are going to be two busy gals this summer!
1. Attend a Summer Festival – Fairfax, VA
The annual Celebrate Fairfax Festival is a weekend full of food, drinks, and fun activities for the whole family. My family has been attending for years and there is equally enough activities for kids as there are for adults. This years music lineup is the best I’ve seen in years! Good Charlotte will kick it off on Friday, June 8th and Sugar Ray will follow on Saturday, June 9th. If you grew up in the 90’s, this is music to your ears, no pun intended 😉 For the little ones there will be a carnival, petting zoo, magic shows, crafting and tons more! Check out the link here for more info on how to purchase tickets.
2. Take Me Out to the Ball Game – Nationals Stadium, DC
It’s not summer in the DMV without attending at least one Nationals game. The kids will love the excitement of seeing a live baseball game and will be talking about it for days! To purchase tickets and see the summer schedule click here.
3. Date Night on the Water – The Wharf, DC
If you haven’t checked out the new Wharf waterfront you are missing out! It’s a great place for a date night, but make sure you make reservations since it has become one of DC’s hot spots. For a list of their restaurants click here.
4. Summer Concert – Wolf Trap, VA
Catch a concert this summer at Wolf Trap performing arts center! They have a huge variety of performers to choose from! Check out the full lineup here.
5. Eat a Bushel of Crabs – Annapolis, MD
Every year we look forward to Maryland blue crabs and orange crushes. A best kept secret is The Point Crab House which offers our summer favorites in a casual waterfront dining experience.
6. Lay By the Pool – Liaison Capitol Hill Pool, DC
Nothing says summer like laying out by the pool and getting a summer glow! For sun bathing in the city the Liaison Capitol Hill hotel offers day passes and cabana rentals to their rooftop pool.
7. Outdoor Movie – National Harbor, MD
National Harbor offers outdoor movies every Sunday, all summer long! Enjoy take out from your favorite National Harbor restaurant and watch a family friendly movie on the water. Movies begin at 6 pm. For a full list of movies playing this summer click here. Don’t forget your lawn chairs!
8. Winery Taste & Tour – The Winery at Bull Run, VA
One of my favorite wineries in the area is The Winery at Bull Run in Centreville, VA. Not only is it the closest winery to DC, they have award winning wine, and beautifully landscaped grounds for a wonderful afternoon outdoors. Call ahead to find out their live music schedule for a complete Winery at Bull Run experience!
9. Beach Trip – Rehobeth Beach, DE
Growing up in northern VA we always headed to the beach as soon as school was out. We always took trips to Ocean City, but another family friendly beach in the area is Rehobeth. This great beach town does not disappoint with live music on the boardwalk, Funland for the kids, and great restaurants to choose from!
Have a great and safe summer everyone!
